Our services for individuals

We provide a very flexible service. Your starting point depends on your needs, experience and awareness of career transition, personal development and other factors. We appreciate that individual learning styles differ and adapt our approach as necessary. Our 1:1 coaching services below can be supplemented by access to our on-line Career Resource Centre (also available as a stand-alone package).

1. Career Coaching - for effective personal transition
The career transition cycle typically entails the following elements:

a. Career review and planning – to establish your goals, strengths, interests, capabilities, desired direction and the actions you need to take.

b. Achieving success in job search and application processes – applying for appropriate jobs with carefully targeted applications.

c. Interview and assessment success – how to jump the hurdles selectors use, to ensure that you get appointed to the job you really want.

The career transition cycle elements - in more detail (with typical 'guide time' coaching input required):

a. Career Review and Planning (Guide time: 2 hours):  builds the foundations for future success. Helps you to identify your strengths, build awareness of the critical factors for career development and the possibilities open to you. By clarifying your goals, exploring your current circumstances (where you are now) and aspirations (where you might be going) we will help you to identify your strengths, explore possibilities, consider any constraints, weigh up options and make effective career decisions, creating a SMART action plan of how to realise your goals. We use a variety of reflective tools and exercises to enable you to build a comprehensive career profile. Industry leading psychometric assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®), TDI®,  16PF®, Strong Interest Inventory®, FIRO-B®, and motivation and ability assessments can be used to give you clearer insights into your personal style, interests, motivations, and capabilities.

b. Job search and application success: developing effective skills and techniques (Guide time: 2 hours)

i. Job Search strategies - focused support to enhance your insight into a range of approaches to job search. Job search strategies include how to access the un-advertised or “hidden" job market through speculative approaches and by developing and applying practical networking skills. We will encourage you to extend yourself beyond the reactive methods used by most people (only applying for advertised jobs), through adopting a more pro-active, multi-strategy, job search approach, which is more likely to yield the desired outcomes.

ii. Applications, CVs and cover letters - maximising your chances of getting shortlisted.  Busy recruiters often spend less than 60 seconds deciding on whether to shortlist an applicant - you have to make an immediate impact. It is critically important for you to be able to "positively differentiate" yourself from the other applicants, competing for the jobs you want. Emphasis will be given to the different styles and approaches to writing effective CVs, cover letters and applications. You will be given the insights and tools to create well researched and thought through applications, tailored and targeted to hit the 'selection criteria' with the appropriate evidence, thereby engaging and creating the right impression with selectors.

c. Interview and assessment success: understanding the game, honing your practical skills to build confidence and presence at interviews and assessment centres (Guide time: 2 hours). The focus here is on giving you clear insights and practice in how to handle the interview process effectively and create a professional impression.  We start by identifying and addressing your concerns (e.g. what to expect from different types of interview, how to research and prepare effectively, the importance of first impressions, dress codes and body language, coping with nerves and fear, the types of question and assessments you may face, how to handle difficult questions and assessments, questions you might ask the interviewers, exiting and follow up; as well as handling informal aspects such as lunches, tours and dinners).

We build on this by conducting a focused practice 1:1 interview with you. Based on an analysis of the requirements of a real job that you provide, we conduct a realistic interview role-play scenario, complete with challenging questions tailored to the role. After the interview we will give you a thorough de-brief, with feedback on how to improve your performance, highlighting relevant resources to assist you in developing your interview skills and maintaining self-confidence.

2. Coaching for Performance – enhancing your individual effectiveness (Guide time: 4-6 hours) The modern workplace is one of challenge, change and pressure. As well as having excellent technical skills, individuals are increasingly called upon to apply their 'emotional intelligence' by utilising a range of soft, transferable, skills to get the best out of themselves and their relationships with both colleagues and clients. We will work with you to further develop your skills in areas such as:

• communicating with confidence, influence and impact, • developing  team and leadership skills • enhancing relationships at work, handling difficult conversations and people who present challenges, • time management and problem solving, etc. A typical programme of personal effectiveness coaching would be of 4-6 hours duration. Psychometric diagnostics such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®), TDI®, FIRO-B®, 16PF® and the Leadership Identities Profile 360° instrument can be used as part of this process to give you a deeper understanding of your inter-personal style, personality preferences, your needs and wants in the inter-personal arena, as well as your leadership style.
